Adventures in the Backcountry

We decided to get ou tof the crowds and hit up some off trail on the backside of the mountain. We walked up the hill for about 15 mins before got to the out of bounds area. I am happy that it was sunny, otherwise the walk would have been miserable! Althought, we didn't even know what we were getting ourselves into.....there was more to come.....

Riding in Steamboat

I expected more of the snow in CO. I was told that it was better than Tahoe, IMO, it was the same. There were some open cordouroy areas, and then som powder. All in all, it was OK. I had much high expectations. I would prefer to ride the 'Wood, but the scenery at SS was awesome and the ability to ski to the bottom and chill at the bar and walk to right to the hot tub was worth it.

Family trip to Colorado

We spent our President's weekend with my family in Steamboat Springs, CO. It was a great time once we arrived. However we spent the thrusday night in the airport waiting to take off in our plane with "mechanical problems". After waiting 6 hours, we finally took off and landed in Denver 2 hours later at 2AM. We were lucky enough to have the car rental company to provide us with a 4WD jeep so that we could make it over the passes to Steamboat. We drove all night and finally drove into SS @ 6:30am.

Just in time for the snow to arrive! We got a little cat nap and then boarded the rest of the day. It is tough being a rock star!

The Escort

My little blue escort is still running strong! My friendly mechanic, Ed Pak, told me that it will last another 50K miles. This was music to my ears! I am so glad that I can get more mileage up to Tahoe. I will have the car 8 years this summer, not bad for a $10K car!

I had some fears last week that I might have to trade it on a newer car, but with the little tune up, it is back in action for the snow!
